Wondrous item, rare

I love that silly little guy! He’s got a sort of… goofy charisma about him, even if his singing needs some work.

Description: Argyle, Master of Music, is a sock puppet worn on one hand. He was well-made, as though a tailor took careful time to craft him. His eyes are shiny brass buttons, and he wears a little maroon hat of felt with a tiny blue feather in it. His pattern is colored to match his hat, and his tiny cloth arms hang limply at his side. Wearing him makes the wearer want to do a silly voice as they puppeteer him.

Argyle is kind and helpful, and will attempt to do whatever is asked of him (so long as he can perform it with his limited little body). He is fickle, however, and must be asked directly - posing questions and requests meant for Argyle to the person wearing him rather than directly the sock puppet causes him to refuse to help the requester for the rest of the day.

Any person with a free hand can don him and use him to sing, dance, and pretend to play music. The wearer must sing or “play” the music themselves by humming along, allowing Argyle to use bardic inspiration of 1d6 as a reaction three times per day. A bard who wears Argyle may have him use this ability with d8s instead. This is in addition to the bard’s usual bardic inspiration.

In addition, a bard wearing Argyle may use his inspiration to complement their own, using up one of his inspirations for the day, but adding +1d4 to the bard’s. That is, a bard may use bardic inspiration, using their normal bardic inspiration dice, and add an additional +1d4. Using Argyle alongside normal bardic inspiration must be decided before the inspiration roll is made.

Attunement: None

Lore: Once upon a time, there was a singer with an awful case of stage fright. All sorts of methods were tried to alleviate it, but no solutions were found until they were told to pretend they weren’t the one up on stage singing. Thus, Argyle was born, and while the performances were musically adequate, where they really shone through was in their charm.
